Recently, the Joint Surgery Center of the Orthopaedic Hospital of our hospital took the lead in completing a day surgery for total hip replacement in the province. The patient was able to walk the next day after the operation and was discharged from the hospital within 48 hours.

The patient, Mr. Luo, suffered a fracture of the left femoral neck due to an accidental fall 4 years ago. He underwent internal fixation surgery in a local hospital, and the internal fixation nail was removed after the fracture healed. Two years ago, Mr. Luo began to have hip pain when walking, and the pain gradually increased and he limped. After going to the hospital for examination, it was found that Mr. Luo's left femoral head was necrotic, and the femoral head had collapsed and deformed. Only hip replacement surgery could completely relieve the pain and restore the ability to walk.

The Joint Surgery Center, Day-care Ward, and Anesthesia Surgery Department cooperated efficiently. After the successful completion of the preoperative examination in the one-stop Inpatient Center, on October 18, chief physician Li Xiaofeng, an expert in the Joint Surgery Center, performed minimally invasive total hip replacement surgery for Mr. Luo. The operation time was about 30 minutes, and there was no tracheal intubation, indwelling catheterization, or indwelling drainage tube in the whole process. After being guided by medical staff for rehabilitation exercises, Mr. Luo walked with the assistance of a walker the next day, and went through the discharge procedures within 48 hours of admission.
